ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers: West Indies in danger of missing first ODI World Cup, it has to win all super six games

After the riveting league phase, the men's ODI World Cup qualifier has reached the Super Six, where Zimbabwe, Netherlands, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Scotland and Oman will contest for two spots at the main event in India later this year.

The cut-throat nature of the qualifier has already left West Indies, who were pre-tournament favourites along with Sri Lanka, on the brink of elimination. Unless the stars align in their favour in a big way, they - champions in the first two editions in 1975 and 1979 - will not feature in the ODI World Cup for the first time. This, after they had failed to make it to the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

Victories in their three matches will obviously give them the best chance of qualification, but even then they will be at the mercy of several other results going in their favour.

To start with, they will have to hope that both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe lose at least two of their three games; if they win two, they will both move to eight points, which will guarantee qualification.

Zimbabwe and former champions Sri Lanka find themselves in a favorable position to secure the last two qualifying berths for this year's ODI World Cup, while the West Indies, who have won the trophy twice, stare at the possible embarrassment of missing the tournament for the first time.

Having triumphed in all four group matches, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka enter the crucial Super Six stage of the qualifiers with four points each, carrying over the rewards obtained from defeating the teams that also progressed from the initial round.

With their impressive batting performances, including a national record-breaking score of 408-6 against the USA, Zimbabwe can approach the upcoming matches with confidence, expecting the runs to keep flowing as the stakes heighten from Thursday.

"We have found our momentum and we are looking forward to carrying it," said Sean Williams, who scored 174 in Monday's 304-run rout of the USA.

Indian Stock markets : registered all-time highs as Sensex crossed the 69,000 mark and Nifty topped the 19,000 mark

Sensex and Nifty scaled back towards the end but registered all-time highs as Sensex crossed the 69,000 mark and Nifty topped the 19,000 mark in today's session.

Discussing the reason for today's market's performance, Jaykrishna Gandhi, Head - Business Development, Institutional Equities, Emkay Global Financial Services said, "There might be another rate hike, but increasingly the odds of recession are reducing making way for a soft landing. This is reflected in the market buoyancy, which eases concerns on the EMs. Crude prices have remained stable to weak despite the Russian coup attempt, weaker crude prices are largely driven by poor China macro as compared to global health being questioned."

The moves in the local indexes contrasted with a mixed mood in Asian peers, where global growth concerns overshadowed upbeat U.S. economic news.

Tokyo rallied in the second half to end with good gains, while Seoul, Hong Kong and Shanghai ended in the flat-to-red zone. European markets are trading in positive territory. The US markets ended significantly higher on Tuesday.

ICC World Cup Qualifiers: Zimbabwe Script History, Score 400 Runs For First Time In ODI Cricket

Zimbabwe cricket team scripted history in their ICC World Cup Qualifier clash against the United States as they scored a total of over 400 runs for the first time in ODI cricket. Riding on a sensational knock from Sean Williams, Zimbabwe posted a massive total of 408 runs after playing the 50 overs against the United States at the Harare Sports Club on Monday (June 26).

First, openers Gumbie and Innocent Kaia got their side to a fine start but Jessy Singh trapped Kaia for 32 off 41 balls. However, Williams walked to play one of the best knocks of cricket career smashing 174 runs off just 101 balls with 21 boundaries and five maximums.

Gumbie was also dismissed later on 78 off 104 by Nosthush Kenjige but Williams kept the flow of runs coming from the other end. Sikandar Raza 48 (27) and Ryal Burl 47 (16) also played their part helping their team reach the 400-run mark for the first time in history.

Zimbabwe's performance against the USA showcases the potential they have to compete at the highest level. Recently, they pulled off an impressive win against the West Indies in the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers. With three consecutive wins in their previous encounters against Nepal, the Netherlands, and West Indies, Zimbabwe is poised for further success in the Super Six stage.

Britain has recorded the joint hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures soaring to 32.2C.

The mercury shot up in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, equalling the figure in Chertsey, Surrey, on June 10.

A heat health warning is in place which covers most of England until 9am tomorrow, as the Met Office warned sun-bathers to enjoy the heat responsibly.

It comes after a teenage girl died after being pulled from the sea over the weekend.

The forecaster also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms for parts of England and Scotland today from 1pm-9pm, which could cause localised flooding.

Some areas could see 30-40mm of rainfall in 1-2 hours, but this is expected to 'vary significantly', while some places are forecast to see hail up to 3cm in diameter along with strong, gusty winds, the Met Office said.

Meteorology (Weather) terminology : Diamond dust , what is diamond dust

Diamond dust is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs in cold, clear, and calm weather conditions. Here are some key points about diamond dust:

Definition: Diamond dust refers to the presence of tiny ice crystals suspended in the air, creating a sparkling or shimmering effect similar to the appearance of diamonds. The ice crystals that form diamond dust are typically flat hexagonal plates or column-like shapes.

Formation: Diamond dust forms when the air is extremely cold, usually below -30°C (-22°F). In these frigid temperatures, water vapor in the air directly sublimates from a gas to a solid state without passing through the liquid phase. The resulting ice crystals are so small and light that they can remain suspended in the air, creating the illusion of a cloud-like formation.

Visibility: Diamond dust is most commonly observed in polar regions such as the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as in high-altitude locations with freezing temperatures. It often occurs in conjunction with clear skies and calm atmospheric conditions, allowing the ice crystals to remain suspended and reflect light.

Appearance: When diamond dust is present, it creates a visually stunning effect. The ice crystals act as tiny prisms, refracting and reflecting sunlight or moonlight, resulting in a shimmering or glimmering appearance. The phenomenon can give the impression of an ethereal haze or a flurry of floating ice particles.

Differences from Snow or Frost: Diamond dust should not be confused with snowfall or frost. Unlike snowflakes, diamond dust crystals are much smaller and have a different shape. Additionally, diamond dust does not accumulate on surfaces like frost but remains suspended in the air.

Unique Optical Phenomena: Diamond dust can create various optical phenomena, including halos, sundogs, and light pillars. These atmospheric effects occur when light interacts with the ice crystals, causing the light to refract, reflect, and disperse in specific ways, resulting in colorful rings, arcs, or pillars in the sky.

Diamond dust is a captivating meteorological occurrence that adds a magical touch to the wintry landscapes where it occurs. It's a fascinating display of light interacting with tiny ice crystals suspended in the air, creating a sparkling spectacle for those fortunate enough to witness it.

General Awareness: Some amazing facts about Antarctica , a study material on Antarctica , with images

Do you know:   One area of the world that needs our help the most is Antarctica, with its ice melts affecting the entire world's climate.

Ninety-nine percent of Antarctica is covered by ice.

Antarctica is the southernmost continent on Earth and is located almost entirely within the Antarctic Circle. Here are some key points of information about Antarctica:

Geography: Antarctica is the fifth-largest continent, covering an area of approximately 14 million square kilometers (5.4 million square miles). It is largely covered by ice, with an average thickness of about 2,160 meters (7,087 feet). The highest point is Mount Vinson, reaching 4,892 meters (16,050 feet) above sea level.

Climate: Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth. The average temperature in winter ranges from -40°C (-40°F) to -60°C (-76°F), while in summer, it can reach -15°C (5°F) along the coast. The continent is characterized by strong winds and low precipitation, primarily in the form of snowfall.

Scientific Research: Antarctica is an important destination for scientific research. Several countries have research stations and field camps scattered across the continent, where scientists study various disciplines such as climate change, glaciology, geology, astronomy, and marine biology. The Antarctic Treaty System, signed by many nations, governs the peaceful and cooperative use of the continent for scientific purposes.

Wildlife: Despite the harsh conditions, Antarctica is home to diverse wildlife. Penguins, seals, whales, and seabirds are among the most iconic species found in the Antarctic region. The Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica supports abundant marine life, including krill, which forms the basis of the Antarctic food chain.

Tourism: Antarctica attracts adventurous travelers who seek to explore its pristine wilderness. However, due to its fragile ecosystem, tourism is regulated through guidelines and permits to minimize environmental impact. Visitors can experience stunning icebergs, vast ice sheets, and unique wildlife through guided cruises and land excursions.

Political Status: Antarctica is governed by the Antarctic Treaty System, which came into effect in 1961. The treaty prohibits military activity, mineral mining, and nuclear testing on the continent. It also promotes scientific cooperation, environmental protection, and the freedom of scientific research.

Environmental Concerns: Antarctica is highly vulnerable to climate change. The melting of ice sheets and glaciers contributes to rising sea levels, which can have global implications. Efforts are underway to understand and mitigate the impacts of climate change on Antarctica and the world.

On average, Antarctica is the windiest continent. Winds in some places of the continent can reach 200 mph (320 km/h).

The Dry Valleys of Antarctica are a unique and extreme polar desert region located in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, a valley system in Victoria Land, East Antarctica. Here are some key details about the Dry Valleys:
The Dry Valleys of Antarctica are the driest place on Earth, with low humidity and almost no snow or ice cover.
Geographic Features: The Dry Valleys encompass a series of valleys, including Taylor Valley, Wright Valley, and Victoria Valley, among others. These valleys are characterized by their extremely dry and barren nature, devoid of any visible surface ice or snow.

Lack of Precipitation: The Dry Valleys are considered the driest places on Earth, with an annual precipitation of less than 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snowfall equivalent. The region's unique topography and katabatic winds (downslope winds) effectively prevent the accumulation of snow and ice.

Absence of Glaciers: Unlike other parts of Antarctica, the Dry Valleys have no glaciers. The combination of low precipitation, high evaporation rates, and wind scouring prevents the formation and maintenance of glaciers in this region.

Ice Sheets and Glaciers: Antarctica is covered by a massive ice sheet, known as the Antarctic Ice Sheet, which contains about 90% of the world's freshwater. The ice sheet has an average thickness of around 2,160 meters (7,087 feet) and holds an estimated 26.5 million cubic kilometers (6.36 million cubic miles) of ice. Glaciers also flow from the ice sheet towards the coast, carrying freshwater in the form of ice.

The average thickness of Antarctic ice is about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers).

Antarctica is home to Mount Erebus, the southernmost active volcano on the planet and home to Earth's only long-lived lava lakes.
Who was the first human to reach the south pole?
Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen was the first human to reach the South Pole. He beat out English explorer Robert Falcon Scott by arriving on Dec. 14, 1911, and planting the Norwegian flag.

British explorer and meteorologist Felicity Aston was the first person ever to ski across Antarctica powered only by human muscle. She traveled 1,084 miles (1,744 kilometers) in 59 days between late 2011 and early 2012.

Meteorology (Weather) terminology : Ski conditions

Ski conditions refer to the amount and state of the snow for the purpose of skiing. The expressions ski conditions and snow conditions are often used interchangeably. Ski conditions encompass the weather and snow conditions that are available to ski during the winter and spring seasons. While some skiers prefer a certain type of snow pack, general weather and snow patterns allow for fun skiing for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

Ski conditions refer to the state and quality of the snow on a ski slope or mountain. The condition of the snow can greatly impact the skiing experience and safety for skiers.

Here are some common ski conditions:

  1. Powder: Fresh, light, and fluffy snow that is ideal for skiing. Powder conditions provide excellent flotation and are highly desired by skiers.

  2. Packed Powder: Snow that has been compressed and groomed, creating a smooth surface. Packed powder conditions offer good traction and control.

  3. Groomed: Snow that has been flattened and smoothed by grooming machines. Groomed conditions are ideal for carving turns and offer good control.

  4. Hardpack: Firm and compacted snow that can be slick and icy. Hardpack conditions can provide fast skiing but may require more edge control.

  5. Crud: Chunks of partially compacted or chopped-up snow. Crud conditions can be challenging to ski through, as they can be uneven and unpredictable.

  6. Ice: A hard, icy surface that can be very slippery. Icy conditions require caution and careful technique.

  7. Slush: Wet and heavy snow resulting from warmer temperatures. Slushy conditions can be slower and more challenging to maneuver through.

It's important to note that ski conditions can change throughout the day due to weather, temperature, grooming, and skier traffic. Ski resorts often provide updates on current ski conditions to help skiers plan their outings accordingly.

Watch: A catch , can be the catch of year..! by Murugan Ashwin in TNPL 2023

The Dindigul Dragons and Siechem Madurai Panthers clashed against each other in the 8th match of the TNPL. Ravi Ashwin's Dindigul Dragons beat Siechem Madurai Panthers by 7 wickets in a comprehensive chase of 124 runs and made it to the top of the table by winning two back-to-back matches.

Although the Panthers disappointed the crowd with both bat and ball, the team put on an excellent fielding performance. Murugan Ashwin executed an excellent running catch of Dindigul’s middle-order batter, S Arun, diving backward near the deep cover.

Gurjapneet Singh, a left-arm bowler for Siechem Madurai Panthers, bowled a length delivery outside off stump that S Arun sliced. Ashwin surged back and dove fully to make a spectacular catch.

All Abount Father's Day in terms of Chat GPT

Father's Day is a special occasion celebrated in many countries around the world to honor and appreciate fathers and father figures for their love, guidance, and contribution to their families. It is a day dedicated to recognizing the important role that fathers play in the lives of their children.

Father's Day is typically celebrated on the third Sunday of June in most countries, although the exact date may vary. On this day, children, spouses, and families express their gratitude and affection towards their fathers through various gestures such as giving gifts, spending quality time together, or simply expressing their love and appreciation.

The origins of Father's Day can be traced back to the early 20th century. The idea of honoring fathers was inspired by the already established celebration of Mother's Day. A woman named Sonora Smart Dodd from Spokane, Washington, is often credited with initiating the concept of Father's Day. She wanted to honor her father, a Civil War veteran who had raised her and her siblings single-handedly after their mother passed away.

Over time, the celebration of Father's Day gained popularity and became more widespread. It became an opportunity for people to show gratitude and love to their fathers and father figures, acknowledging their efforts, sacrifices, and unconditional love.

Father's Day is a day for families to come together and create lasting memories. It is a time to reflect on the importance of paternal bonds and the positive influence fathers have on their children's lives. While gifts are a common way to show appreciation, what matters most is the sentiment behind the gesture and the opportunity to express love and gratitude.

Whether it's a simple heartfelt message, a phone call, a thoughtful gift, or spending quality time together, Father's Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and honor the special men in our lives who have played the role of fathers, mentors, and guiding figures.

England Creates Ashes History

England's suprise Day 1 declaring is an Ashes record for the earliest a team has decided to declare in the first over of an Ashes history. Previously, the record was held by Australia at the MCG in 1937, when they declared in the 66th over. However, at that time there were 8-ball overs, meaning the 2023 decision is the record.

Apart from these two, the third, fourth, and fifth earlier Ashes declarations were all taken by England in six-ball overs but in the 90th, 102nd, and 104th overs, essentially meaning on the second day of play at Lord's (1912) and Nottingham (1964 and 1956).
