India Successfully test fires Agni – III ballistic missile
India on 27 April 2017, successfully test fired Agni-III ballistic missile from Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha Coast. The surface to surface nuclear capable intermediate range ballistic missile can hit targets in the range of around 3000 km. The two stage solid propelled missile has length of 17 metres, 2 metres diameter and its launch weight is around 50 tonnes. The missile was inducted into the armed forces in June 2011.
NASA discovered Ice ball Planet though Microlensing
NASA scientists have discovered a new planet OGLE – 2016 – BLG- 1195 lb that has the same mass as Earth and Orbits its star from the same distance as Earth Orbit the Sun. The newly discovered planet is nearly 13,000 light years and orbits a small star. Ice ball planet is the lowest mass planet ever found though microlensing. Microlensing is a technique that facilitates the discovery of distant objects by using background stars as flash lights.
NASA launches super pressure Balloon from New Zealand
The National Aeronautics and Space administration (NASA) on 25 April 2017 successfully launched its football stadium sized and heavy lift Super Pressure Balloon (SPB) from Wanaka, New Zealand. The Balloon will float for 100 or more days at 1,10,000 feet (33.5 km) across the globe in the Southern Hemisphere’s mid-latitude band. It will observe a broad swath of the Earth’s atmosphere to detect the UV fluorescence from the deep space cosmic rays coming in the above.
NASA Astronaut Peggy Whitson sets a new space walk record
NASA Astronaut Peggy whitson on 24 April 2017 set a new US Record for most cumulative 650 days spent in space. With this Whitson surpassed Cosmonaut Jeff Williams record of 534 days, 4 hours and 48 minutes aboard the International space Station (ISS). Indian Navy successfully tests land attack Brahmos Supersonic Missile
Indian Navy successfully tested a Brahmos land attack supersonic cruise missile from a naval ship on 21st April 2017. The variant of the long range Brahmos was fired in Bay of Bengal, off the eastern coast. Previously the antiship variant has already inducted into the indian Navy. The present land attack variant provides Indian warship the capability to attack the selected in deep inland far from the coast.
Space X Launch the First Recycled Rocket
Space X made history by successfully launching the first re-used rocket. The launch is scheduled to take place from the Kennedy Space Center, at pad 39 A, in cape canaveral, Florida. The Falcon 9 completed an unmanned resupply mission to the ISS this time last year, before returning to Earth and landing on a platform at sea. It was first time Space X founder Elon Musk tried to fly booster that soared before on an orbital mission.
