Star Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was on fire for Nottinghamshire against Warwickshire during the North Group match of T20 Blast 2023, which was played at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Friday (June 30). The 23-year-old left-arm pacer created a new world record by becoming the first bowler in the history of a T20 game to dismiss four batters in the first over of the innings. The Pakistani pace ace removed Warwickshire skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Davies for a golden duck on the first legitimate delivery of the innings. Davies was trapped in front of the wickets and was adjudged LBW out.
On the second ball, Afridi then removed Chris Benjamin. Like Davies, Benjamin also got out for a golden duck. He was clean-bowled. Shaheen missed out on a hat-trick but took two more wickets on the last two balls of the first over. He removed Dan Mousley, who was caught by Olly Stone for one from two balls on the fifth ball, and clean bowled Ed Barnard for a golden duck on the last delivery.
