Reservation (SC, ST, OBC(non-creamy layer)) Category: B.Tech/B.E in
CS/IT, MSc in CS/IT or MCA: 60% or 6.5 CGPA and M.Tech/M.E. in CSE : 60%
or 6.5 CGPA.2. Candidates with degree (M.Tech/M.E.) in CS from
IITs/IISc, the cutoffs are relaxed as:7 CGPA or 65% for
General/OBC(creamy layer).6 CGPA or 55% for Reserved(SC, ST,
OBC(non-creamy layer)).Direct-PhD – Candidates with only a B.Tech/B.E.
degree in CS/IT, M.Sc in CS/IT or MCA, can also apply: General/OBC (creamy layer): 80% or 8.5 with a valid CSE GATE score > 600.
Reservation (SC, ST, OBC(non-creamy layer)): 70% or 7.5 with a valid
CSE GATE score of >500.For IIT/IISc graduates, the CGPA criterion is
relaxed to 8.0 for General/OBC (creamy layer) and 7.0 for Reserved
category (SC, ST, OBC(non-creamy layer)). They need not have a valid
GATE score. For NITs/IIITs graduates, the CGPA criterion is relaxed
to 8.0 for General/OBC (creamy layer) and 7.0 for Reserved category (SC,
ST, OBC(non-creamy layer)). They must have a valid CSE GATE score

Biomedical Engineering
|
First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST)
in Master’s Degree in Science/Engineering / Technology.
M.Tech./M.E./M.S. (Engineering/ Technology) degree with first class or
equivalent in the respective or allied areas. Candidates with Bachelor’s
degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an
allied area and possessing a valid GATE score may also apply. For those
who have not yet completed their qualifying examination, marks up to the
7th semester/ 3rd year (for BTech students) and 3rd semester/ 1st year
for PG students will be considered. Candidates with CSIR-NET-JRF /
UGC-NET-JRF award for Research fellowship or equivalent or GATE
Qualification are encouraged to apply.

Biotechnology
|
A BTech or Master’s degree (MSc or MTech or MPharm) in any allied area of Life
Sciences/Biotechnology is considered a qualifying degree.Applicants
with BTech or MSc qualification must have either a good GATE Score or a
valid national level fellowship that supports pursuing a PhD at IITH
such as: DBT-JRF (categoryA), CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF, DST-INSPIRE-JRF, etc. A
minimum aggregate of 60% for general & OBC and 55% for SC/ST in the
qualifying degree is desirable.Applicants have to ensure that they
have met minimum eligibility criteria before applying.Mere fulfilling of
minimum eligibility criteria does not qualify for short listing to
interview or admission to the PhD program.

Liberal Arts
|
55% marks or equivalent CGPA in Master degree* with UGC/NET score or M.Phil.** degree from reputed Universities or Institutes.
Shortlisted candidates must pass a written test and/or interview
conducted by the Department of Liberal Arts. *Candidates who are
enrolled in Semester IV of their M.A./M. Sc., or an equivalent program,
at the time of application to the Ph. D. program at IITH, may submit
grade sheets of Semesters I, II, and III. They must also provide the
evidence of UGC-NET/JRF qualification along with the application form.
If they fail to provide the final proof of the qualifying degree at the
time of registration at IIT Hyderabad, their candidature will be
cancelled. **Candidates who have not obtained the M.Phil. final
degree but submitted their dissertation, should attach a submission
certificate issued by the Departmental Head/Registrar along with the application form. They must provide the provisional degree during the time of registration at IIT Hyderabad, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering |
55%

Chemical Engineering
|
Candidates with a M.Tech/M.E. degree are eligible to apply. A valid GATE score is not a pre-requisite for such candidates. Candidates without a Master’s degree, but with a valid GATE score, are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program. Candidates with degrees (Bachelor's or Master's) in allied disciplines like Biotechnology, Polymer engineering, Petroleum, Petrochemical, etc. may also apply

Chemistry

For
Regular Candidates: Master’s (MSc) degree in Chemical Sciences with
good academic record. Valid GATE-score/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF or
equivalent.For Sponsored Candidates: Category A: Students working under
sponsored projects (i.e. DST, CSIR, BRNS, DBT, etc.) of Indian Institute
of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), with valid
GATE-score/CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF/Lectureship (LS) at the time of joining the
project are also eligible to apply for the PhD programme (candidates
from sponsored program are not eligible for any stipend from
MHRD).Category B: Candidztes working in reputed research/industrial
organizations may also apply under sponsored Ph.D. programme (candidates
from sponsored program are not eligible for any stipend from MHRD). A proof of sponsorship from parent organization must be provided at the time of interview.

M.Sc./M.A.

Master of Design (M.Des.) M.Des. is a two year full time Programme
which aims to provide broad-based understanding of design along with
student-driven specialization in varied domains .The Specialization to
be offered in the academic year 2014-15 M.Des. In Visual Design 2.
Ph.D.Ph.D. in Design (Full time / Part time) provides a platform to
pursue practice based and practice led research in art, design, culture,
creative practices and related areas
